Reformations of Martin Luther
Reformations of Martin Luther was published on the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther launching his reformation in Germany. This book chllenges several of the mythologies around this event, including that he did not nail his 95 Theses to the church door; that he saw the 95 Theses as the birth of Protestantism, and that his was not the first reformation. Primarily it sets the reformation in the context of the politics of the Holy Roman Empire, of which Luther's local ruler, Elector Frederick, was an important member prior to the election of Emperor Charles V.
